Thoughts on Working

To do “great work”, think of yourself as an ‘independent researcher.’ In research work, 90% of the things fail, but 10% that succeed, change humanity’s fate.

Great work has a long gestation period. To do high-impact work, you, have, to, wait.

So, in any work, assume that 90% of the things you do will fail, but still do them. The courage you get when you discount the things that will fail, will force you to win big. In ‘Success is Easy,’ I talked about how you need only a few big wins. Independent research is one way to have a few big wins.
