We’ve read complex models for success. One simple model I’ve been focusing on is producing more output. In Quality and Quantity, I’d written about the timings of when quality matters, and when quantity does.
Now, I think that, regardless of the timing, wanting to produce more output is always a strategy for creating high-art. Picasso made so many pieces of art that, till today, scholars are not able to count them all. In fact, some say that he created more than 50,000 pieces of art in his life.
We remember only a few pieces from Picasso, but the reason he produced those few masterpieces is because he always produced more than what he consumed.
If you focus on producing more, and have that as your north star, the rest will fall into place.
Have output be greater than input.
