Stories are exciting. It's fun to listen to stories. We like backgrounds, descriptions, briefs. We like fluff. We like to quote stuff. We like to recall books, people, sources.
But we don't like details.
So, one axiom is 'Get To The Point.'
Don't tell me sources. Don't tell me who said it. Don't tell me the geography. Don't reference. Don't quote. It doesn't matter.
For example:
In his book Antifragile, Nassim Taleb talks of three concepts: fragile, robust, and antifragile.
vs
You can be either fragile, robust, or antifragile.
It's not stealing ideas. Or maybe it is. I don't know. But, the idea itself matters, not the source.
